Piled objects on the ground
or any other surfaces are typical examples of clutters. A geometric
principle about dimensionality says the placement of objects appears
sparser in higher dimension space. Stars in the 2D galaxy picture look
crowed. However, they are extremely sparse in 3D galaxy. 3D space has
far more storing capability than 2D surface. It is very important to
take advantage of 3D space for decluttering purpose.
Stars in the 2D galaxy picture look crowed. However, they are extremely sparse in 3D galaxy.
Based on the above psychological and geometric observations, we have the two basic principles of decluttering:
1.Keep ground free of scattered objects.
2.Place scattered objects vertically above the reference surface.
Please notice that “scattered objects” here do not include tree-like objects with great height such as standing lamp, book shelves, night stand, etc. Tree-like objects on the surface do not cause strong sense of clutter.
